Set one price and earn more during school holidays, long weekends, and festive season. Kampi's new High Season Pricing adjusts automatically.
Here's something interesting from our booking data: December is Kampi's busiest month every single year. In 2025, 300 trips checked in during December alone. But the average daily rate for December bookings? R849. The rest of the year averages R869. Owners are getting longer trips during peak season but actually charging less per day.
That's money left on the table, and it happens because most owners set their rate once and leave it. Who has time to track every school holiday, long weekend, and festive season? Some try, but miss an Easter here or a September school holiday there.
We built High Season Pricing to fix this.
Kampi now has a built-in peak season calendar. We've pre-loaded all the major South African travel periods for 2026 through 2028: school holidays, long weekends, and the festive season. You set one High Season Price on your listing, and that price kicks in automatically whenever a booking falls on peak dates.
No spreadsheet tracking. No forgetting to update your calendar. Set it once and the platform handles the rest.
Go to your listing's pricing settings. Below your base daily rate, you'll see a new field: High Season Price (per day). Enter a higher rate there, save, and you're done.
When a renter books dates that fall during a peak period, your High Season Price applies instead of your base rate. When a booking spans both regular and peak dates, each day gets priced at the correct rate and the renter sees a clear breakdown. If you've set custom prices on specific dates, those still take priority over everything else.
So the order goes: custom price first, then high season price, then your base rate.
We loaded the South African school calendar and public holidays into the platform. Here's what applies for 2026:
We update these annually based on the Department of Basic Education school calendar. Dates for 2027 and 2028 are already loaded too.
Your listing calendar now highlights these peak dates so you can see at a glance when higher pricing kicks in.
A look at what our booking data actually shows about demand during these periods:
December is far and away the busiest month on Kampi, with 938 completed trips across all years. March and April (Easter) follow at 669 and 604. The quietest month is May at 214.
More telling is the growth trend. Easter bookings went from 278 total in 2022 to 1,258 in 2026. December bookings grew from 93 in 2021 to 758 in 2025. Demand during these periods isn't just high, it's growing fast year on year.
Renters also plan further ahead for peak season. The average lead time for winter holiday bookings is 69 days, compared to 37 days during off-peak. December bookings average 52 days ahead. That means many of your peak season bookings are being made right now, at whatever rate you currently have set.
Depends on your camper, your location, and how much demand you normally see during holidays. As a rough guide: December and January can handle 20-30% above your base rate. Easter and longer school holidays sit around 15-25% above. Long weekends are more like 10-15%.
If your base rate is R800/day, something like R950 to R1,000 for your High Season Price is a reasonable starting point. You can always adjust later based on how bookings come in.
One thing worth knowing: your High Season Price applies to all peak periods equally. If you want to charge differently for December versus a Heritage Day weekend, use custom pricing on those specific dates instead.
When a renter books a trip that crosses from regular into peak dates, they see exactly how the price breaks down day by day. No hidden surprises, no vague "seasonal surcharge" line item.
Say someone books a 10-day trip where 5 days fall in regular season at R800/day and 5 days in peak season at R1,000/day. They'd see a blended rate of R900/day with the full day-by-day breakdown available. People book more confidently when they can see exactly what each day costs.
No. It's optional. If you leave the field empty, your base rate applies year-round. Nothing changes unless you actively set a High Season Price.
But across 5,400+ completed trips on Kampi, the data is clear: demand spikes during holidays and most owners aren't adjusting their pricing to match. If you've ever looked at your December bookings and thought "I could've charged more for that," this is probably worth five minutes of your time.
Log into your owner dashboard, select your listing, and head to pricing settings. The High Season Price field is right below your base rate.
Easter 2026 starts on 27 March. Set your price now and you'll catch the first peak period automatically.
More than 5,600 completed trips, 373 active campers and caravans, and a verified review average of 4.89 out of 5 across 782 ratings. Browse campers on Kampi.
December holidays (12 Dec to 13 Jan), Easter, and winter school holidays (27 Jun to 20 Jul) are the three biggest windows. Long weekends add smaller peaks.
Set peak-season pricing, block non-negotiable dates early, accept bookings faster (under 24 hours), and keep your listing photos and description refreshed.
Yes, via the Smart Pricing toggle. It adjusts nightly rates based on demand, calendar gaps, and time to checkin.
A 10 to 15 percent weekly discount typically pays off. Long bookings reduce turnover overhead, which is where most time goes.
