About Cape Town

Take the N2 east and you're on the Garden Route: Somerset West in 40 minutes, over Sir Lowry's Pass, through Caledon and Swellendam to Mossel Bay (4 hours), George (4.5 hours), and all the way to Plett (5.5 hours). The N7 north runs up the West Coast. Langebaan, Paternoster, and eventually Namaqualand if you keep going. The R44 coastal road to Hermanus takes about 1.5 hours and is worth it for whale season. Stellenbosch and Franschhoek? 45 minutes east.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do Cape Town camper owners do handover?
You'll sort out the exact spot with the owner after booking. Most Cape Town campers are based in the Southern Suburbs, Northern Suburbs (Bellville, Durbanville), or near the N1/N2 for easy highway access.
What is the best season for a Cape Town caravan trip?
Summer (Dec-March) is the obvious choice, warm, dry, perfect for the Garden Route. Spring (Sep-Nov) is underrated though: wildflowers on the West Coast and the Winelands are gorgeous. Winter is wet, but if you don't mind the rain, the mountains get snow and it's properly moody and beautiful.
Can I take a caravan on Cape Point road?
You can, but think about the size of your rig first. The roads inside Table Mountain National Park are paved but some sections are narrow and winding. Smaller trailers, no problem. Bigger caravans, check SANParks guidelines. There's a caravan parking area near the entrance gate if you'd rather unhitch.
How far is Cape Town from Knysna?
About 500km, roughly 5 hours on the N2. Most people break the drive at Mossel Bay or George, and honestly, why rush? The N2 is a good road, fine for any caravan.
