Brubru Caravans: From Kampi Listing to Full Business

How Brubru Caravans in Kampersrus built a rental brand on Kampi. Off-road caravan hire near Kruger National Park, bookings powered by Kampi.

When a Kampi owner builds their own brand

When we built Kampi, we wanted to give camper owners a way to earn from what's already sitting in the driveway. Some do exactly that - list a camper, pick up a few bookings, make some extra cash. But a few owners take it further. They treat their caravan like a real business.

Brubru Caravans is one of them.

Who is Brubru Caravans?

Ray Hume runs Brubru Caravans out of Kampersrus in Limpopo, right on the doorstep of the Kruger National Park and the Panorama Route. The name comes from the Brubru bird, a small shrike you'll hear calling through the Lowveld bushveld.

The caravan is a Bushlapa Miskruier - offroad, dustproof, fully kitted with a kitchen and water system, and built to go off-grid. Sleeps four. Good for couples or small families who want proper bush without sleeping on the ground.

R1,150 per day, with weekly and monthly discounts if you're heading up for longer.

More than just a listing

Here's the bit we like. Ray didn't just list his caravan on Kampi and call it a day. He went and built brubru.co.za - his own website, with his own branding, telling his own story. And it links straight through to his Kampi listing for bookings.

Kampi handles the booking engine, payments, insurance, and renter verification. Ray handles the rest - the personality, the local knowledge, the guest experience. He knows the Lowveld. We know bookings. It works.

He's also building out beyond the caravan - cottage accommodation through Alkantmooi in Kampersrus, with trailer rentals, equipment hire, and guided adventures in the pipeline. One camper on Kampi turned into a proper hospitality business.

More owners are doing this

Brubru isn't the only one. We're seeing more owners treat their camper listing as a starting point. Some build websites. Others grow a following on social media. A few have gone from one caravan to a small fleet.

The setup is the same: Kampi runs the admin and payments, the owner runs the experience. If you're an owner thinking about doing more with your listing, go look at what Ray built. It's a good template.
