Mokala National Park is SANParks' newest park, about 80 km south of Kimberley in the Northern Cape. The Motswedi Campsite has 6 sites arranged in a half-moon around a waterhole, with each site getting its own toilet, solar-heated shower, breakfast nook overlooking the water, and an open-fronted kitchen with a gas burner and gas fridge. There's no grid electricity; everything runs on solar. The park covers 27,500 hectares of camel thorn woodland and thornveld.
Motswedi Campsite is unlike most campgrounds. Each of the 6 sites has a private toilet, shower (solar geyser), a built-in breakfast nook facing the waterhole, an open-fronted kitchen with prep area, washing area, two-plate gas burner, and a gas fridge/freezer. There's an outside braai stand under shade trees. A solar-powered electrified fence keeps buffalo out. No grid electricity. Game drives (guided morning, day, sunset, and night) explore the park's camel thorn woodland, where you'll spot black rhino, white rhino, buffalo, tsessebe, roan antelope, sable antelope, giraffe, eland, and zebra. Guided rock art engraving drives and breakfast under a 400-year-old camel thorn tree are special experiences. There's no restaurant inside the park, so bring all your own food and supplies. Kimberley (80 km) has everything you need. While in the area, the Big Hole, Mine Museum, and McGregor Museum in Kimberley are worth a visit.
