Klein Paradys is one of those weekend spots that Pretoria and Joburg families keep coming back to. It sits just outside Brits in the North West, about an hour from Pretoria, with 116 caravan stands spread across shaded grounds. The resort runs four waterslides, five swimming pools, and enough braai spots to keep everyone happy. If you don't own a caravan, rent one on Kampi from a Gauteng-based owner and drive straight out on the R512.
Klein Paradys operates on weekends and school holidays only (closed June and July for maintenance). The park has 80 standard stands and 36 exclusive stands, each with 15-amp power and water. The exclusive stands come with their own private ablution, which is a nice touch if you want a bit more comfort. Communal ablutions have 20 showers and 22 toilets. For the kids, there are waterslides, a super tube, mini golf, trampolines, and free canoes on the small lakes. Adults can fish, braai, or just sit under the trees and do nothing. Hartbeespoort Dam is about 30 minutes away for boat cruises and the Harties Cableway. The Ann van Dyk Cheetah Centre at De Wildt is a popular day trip. If you want more bushveld, the Magaliesberg offers hiking trails and the canopy tour is within striking distance.
