J-Bay needs no introduction if you know anything about surfing — Supertubes is one of the best right-hand point breaks on the planet. But you don't need to surf to love this place. The municipal caravan park is right on the seafront with grassed stands, four ablution blocks, and 24-hour security. Wake up, walk to the beach, watch dolphins cruise past your morning coffee. The vibe is relaxed and unpretentious — board shorts and slops territory. Rent a camper on Kampi, take the N2 from PE or the Garden Route, and settle in for a week of salt air and sunsets.
Jeffreys Bay stretches along a beautiful stretch of coastline with multiple surf breaks — Supertubes, Boneyards, Kitchen Windows, and Point. Even if you don't surf, watching from the shore during the WSL J-Bay Open in July is electric. The Shell Museum on the beachfront has one of the largest private shell collections in the world. Dolphins — both bottlenose and common — are regular visitors and you'll spot them from the caravan park most mornings. Kabeljous Nature Reserve on the eastern edge of town has walking trails and river kayaking. St Francis Bay is 20 minutes south for canals and a different pace. For shopping and supplies, the town centre has everything you need including a Checkers, Spar, and the famous J-Bay surf shops.

Not at all. The beaches are beautiful for swimming and walking, dolphins are regular visitors, and the town has a chilled holiday vibe. Shell collecting, fishing, and beach walks are just as popular as surfing.
About 75km on the N2 — roughly 50 minutes. PE airport is the closest major airport. From Cape Town, it's about 750km on the N2 through the Garden Route, or 700km on the N9/N10 via Graaff-Reinet.
The park has 24-hour security and is fenced. It's one of the more well-managed municipal parks on the coast. That said, use common sense and don't leave valuables visible as with any campsite.
