The Blyde River Canyon is one of the largest green canyons on Earth — 26km long and 800m deep. The Panorama Route that runs along the canyon rim is one of SA's most spectacular drives: God's Window, the Three Rondavels, Bourke's Luck Potholes, and the Pinnacle. There are campsites and caravan parks in Graskop, Sabie, and along the Forever Resort Blyde Canyon. It's about 4-5 hours from Gauteng via the N4 and R532. Rent a camper on Kampi and take your time along the Panorama Route — it's worth at least 2-3 days.
The Panorama Route runs from Sabie through Graskop to the Blyde River Canyon Dam. Must-see stops: God's Window (sweeping view of the Lowveld), the Pinnacle (a quartzite column rising from the forest), Bourke's Luck Potholes (water-carved rock formations), and the Three Rondavels viewpoint overlooking the canyon. Graskop is the base town — famous for its pancake shops. Sabie is surrounded by waterfalls (Lone Creek, Horseshoe, Bridal Veil). The Blyde Dam has boat cruises. The whole area is also a gateway to Kruger — Orpen Gate is about 2 hours from Graskop.

Forever Resort Blyde Canyon has caravan stands on the dam. There are also caravan parks in Graskop and Sabie. Most have power hookups and ablutions.
About 370km — roughly 4.5 hours via the N4 through Nelspruit, then the R40 and R532 up to Graskop. The last stretch is winding mountain road — take it slow with a caravan.
Absolutely. Orpen Gate (Kruger) is about 2 hours from Graskop. Many people do 2-3 days on the Panorama Route, then head into Kruger for a week of game drives. Rent a camper on Kampi for 10 days and do both.
Year-round, but autumn (March-May) has the clearest skies. Winter is dry with cold nights. Summer (Dec-Feb) can be misty at God's Window but the waterfalls are at their best. Avoid school holidays if you want quieter viewpoints.
