Augrabies Falls thunders 56 metres into a granite gorge on the Orange River — one of the most powerful waterfalls in the Southern Hemisphere. The park around it is otherworldly: smooth moon-rock granite, kokerboom trees, and a dry, stark beauty that's completely different from any other SA park. The rest camp has caravan stands with power and views of the semi-desert landscape. It's about 120km from Upington — often combined with a trip to the Kgalagadi. The Orange River also offers multi-day canoe trips from Augrabies downstream.
The main viewpoint overlooks the falls and the 18km granite gorge below. The Dassie Trail (self-guided, 5.4km) takes you along the gorge rim with rock dassies sunning themselves on every boulder. The Klipspringer Hiking Trail (3 days, 39km) is for serious hikers. Moon Rock is a massive granite dome that you can walk to. The park has black rhino (though they're elusive in the thick riverine bush), klipspringer, gemsbok, and springbok. The night sky is extraordinary — zero light pollution. Orange River canoe trips start near Augrabies and run 4-6 days downstream.

Yes. The rest camp has caravan stands with power hookups, ablution blocks, a swimming pool, shop, and restaurant. The falls viewpoint is a short walk from camp.
About 120km — roughly 90 minutes. Upington is the nearest town with an airport, fuel, and supermarkets.
Yes — it's a common combination. Augrabies to Twee Rivieren is about 400km. Spend 2 nights at Augrabies, then drive to the Kgalagadi for 4-5 nights. Rent a camper on Kampi for 10 days and do both.
The falls are most impressive after summer rains (Feb-April) when the Orange River is in flood. But summer temperatures hit 40°C+. Best compromise: March-April when water levels are high and heat is easing.
